ADVANCED PRODUCTION: OPTIMIZATION OF THE DESIGN OF AN INDUSTRIAL WASHING MACHINE THROUGH MATHEMATICAL MODELLING

The Centre for Industrial Equipment Design (CDEI UPC), in collaboration with the company Girbau, has developed a parametrized model of an industrial washing machine. The model tests design proposals for optimizing product requirements in a short time, without the need for constructing a physical prototype. In the industrial sector, a constant effort is made to optimize product functions and reduce the manufacturing costs and environmental footprint. Read more

 
 

ICT: TETRAMAX, IMPROVING TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER IN ICT AT EUROPEAN LEVEL

The kick-off meeting of Tetramax (TEchnology TRAnsfer via Multinational Application EXperiments) was held on 19 September. Tetramax is a European project in which Data Management Group (DAMA UPC) participates, led by RWTH Aachen University. The aim of the project is to implement the European initiative "Smart Anything Everywhere (SAE)" in the area of ICT technologies, particularly those aimed at the internet of things, to drive innovation by promoting technology transfer experiments. Read more

 
 

ADVANCED PRODUCTION: TEST BENCH FOR SEALS

The Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems Laboratory (LABSON UPC) has collaborated with EPIDOR Seals and Rubber Technology to develop a test bench for evaluating models of seals for hydraulic actuators. The bench can be used for comparative testing and validation of the performance of various seal configurations, designs and materials under different working conditions. Consequently, it helps to optimise the process of developing new products or improving existing ones.  Read more

THE UPC PRESENTS TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS IN HEALTH AND INDUSTRY 4.O AT THE IOTSWC

Through its Technology Center, the UPC presented its technological capabilities and advanced solutions at the third edition of the IOT Solutions World Congress in the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Pavilion, on 3–5 October in Barcelona. Two prototypes for the health and industry 4.0 fields respectively were presented: WOMEN-UP, an integrated device for rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles and treating urinary incontinence at home, with remote medical monitoring, and a smart monitoring system for the predictive maintenance of industrial plants. Read more

 
 

PARTICIPATION IN THE ‘ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN INDUSTRY 4.0 FORUM'

The 2016 Annual Report of the CIT UPC Technology Center is now available. This document highlights the main projects and institutional activities developed in 2016. With the notable effort and dedication of research and knowledge transfer teams, our revenue stands at almost 12.4 million euros. There has been intense collaboration with companies on R+D projects, which accounted for 51% of the total.

‘COLLABORATION CHALLENGES’ 2017 CALL

The Council of Ministers has authorized the Spanish State Research Agency to proceed with the 2017 “RETOS Colaboración” call to promote development projects for companies and research organizations. The approved budget amounts to 499 million euros, of which almost 100 correspond to subsidies.

IT SYSTEM FOR ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT OF THE INSTITUT DEL TEATRE

inLab FIB UPC has developed SAGIT, an IT system for academic management of the Institut del Teatre. The Institut’s academic management systems have been computerized, and the IT system is designed so that future qualifications or courses taught at the centre can be added.

The Institut del Teatre was created in 1913 by Barcelona Provincial Council and is focused on teaching, creation, research, conservation and dissemination of heritage in the field of the dramatic arts.
