Es tracta d\u2019un DRIFTER, o boia de deriva superficial de baix cost i baixa pot\u00e8ncia, f\u00e0cil d\u2019utilitzar, resistent als impactes, multi\u00fas, multisensorial i molt lleuger, per ser utilitzat en tots els entorns aqu\u00e0tics, des del mar profund fins a aig\u00fces interiors, incloent-hi \u00e0rees costaneres, plomalls de rius i zones de trencant d\u2019onades.\u00a0<\/h4><br>Project Header<br>no-repeat;left top;;<br>auto<br>20px<br><br><br>El dispositiu s\u2019ha desenvolupat com una millora del dispositiu WAVY, concebut per la Facultat d\u2019Enginyeria de la Universitat de Porto, que s\u2019utilitzava per mesurar la circulaci\u00f3 superficial for\u00e7ada pel trencament d\u2019onades, incloent-hi la detallada estructura dels corrents de retorn i la deriva litoral. La filosofia del dispositiu WAVY ha estat essencialment respectada: una esfera de mida redu\u00efda amb prou espai per allotjar la font d\u2019energia, receptor GPS, m\u00f2duls de comunicaci\u00f3, antenes, sensors i processador de dades; flotabilitat optimitzada per evitar que la traject\u00f2ria del dispositiu respongui al vent en comptes del corrent, alhora que proporciona l\u2019exposici\u00f3 justa de les antenes per garantir l\u2019adquisici\u00f3 del senyal GPS a la velocitat requerida i comunicacions fiables en temps quasi real.\u00a0<br><br>Donada la baixa influ\u00e8ncia del vent sobre els despla\u00e7aments dels dispositius de deriva, aquests dispositius proporcionen una manera efectiva i econ\u00f2mica de monitorar els corrents superficials i les caracter\u00edstiques din\u00e0miques superficials en qualsevol lloc de l\u2019oce\u00e0 a nivell mundial. Equipant els dispositius amb termistors (un tipus de resist\u00e8ncia que varia segons la temperatura) a dos nivells diferents, s\u2019obre la possibilitat de monitorar la \\&#8221;temperatura superficial pr\u00f2xima\\&#8221; i els gradients de temperatura verticals a prop de la superf\u00edcie.\u00a0\u00a0<br><br>Aix\u00ed, aquestes mesures in situ tenen un valor incalculable per a la calibraci\u00f3\/validaci\u00f3 dels models oceanografics superficials actuals i de les dades del mar preses per sat\u00e8l\u00b7lit. \u00c9s el cas dels programes GEOSS o Copernicus, que estudien els corrents i les temperatures de superf\u00edcie marina a partir de mediacions per sat\u00e8l\u00b7lit, i que necessiten dades de mesurament in situ per validar-ne els resultats.<br><br>El projecte MELOA \u00e9s un projecte desenvolupat dintre del programa Horizon 2020, ie t\u00e9 per objectiu millorar els sistemes actuals d\u2019observaci\u00f3 i monitoratge de l\u2019oce\u00e0.
