Per aconseguir-ho, es proposa aprofitar un recurs poc explotat fins ara: la sorra de quars procedent de pedreres europees, amb la finalitat de produir MG-Si de manera local, sostenible i eficient.<\/h4><br>Project Header<br>no-repeat;left top;;<br>auto<br>20px<br><br><br>El projecte aborda un repte significatiu: la forta depend\u00e8ncia de la UE de fonts externes per a mat\u00e8ries primeres cr\u00edtiques, especialment el silici metal\u00b7l\u00fargic (MG-Si). Actualment, m\u00e9s del 80% del MG-Si \u2014vital per a aplicacions d\u2019alta tecnologia i les ambicions de sostenibilitat de la UE\u2014 s\u2019importa principalment de la Xina.\u00a0<br><br>L\u2019objectiu global del projecte <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/queenproject.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">QUEEN<\/a>\u00a0\u00e9s crear un proc\u00e9s respectu\u00f3s amb el medi ambient per produir silici metal\u00b7l\u00fargic a partir de sorres de pedrera, amb emissions de CO\u2082 gaireb\u00e9 nul\u00b7les, i aprofitant materials residuals en el proc\u00e9s. Aquest enfocament transformador podria convertir qualsevol pedrera de quars de la UE en un potencial reservori de MG-Si. A m\u00e9s, les tecnologies desenvolupades podrien adaptar-se a altres materials.<br><br>Per aix\u00f2, es dissenyar\u00e0 un nou proc\u00e9s de separaci\u00f3 mineral basat en la flotaci\u00f3 en escuma amb reactius d\u2019origen sostenible per a l\u2019extracci\u00f3 de quars a partir de sorres de pedrera com alternativa m\u00e9s eficient i ecol\u00f2gica per al refinament de quars d\u2019alta puresa, i recuperar calcita i feldspats com a subproductes.<br><br>Per part de la UPC, els grups que hi participen s\u00f3n el Grup de Recerca en Mineria Sostenible (GREMS), coordinador del projecte, el Grup de Recerca en Recursos i Ind\u00fastries Intel\u00b7ligents i Sostenibles (RIIS), el Centre de Recerca Smart Sustainable Resources (SSR-UPC) i el Centre de Recerca en Supervisi\u00f3, Seguretat i Control Autom\u00e0tic (CS2AC-UPC). Tamb\u00e9 hi contribueixen l\u2019Institut Universitari de Recerca en Din\u00e0mica Fluvial i Enginyeria Hidrol\u00f2gica (FLUMEN), el Grup de Recerca en Sistemes TIC Intel\u00b7ligents i Segurs (SINAPSI), el Grup de Rob\u00f2tica de Serveis i Rob\u00f2tica Industrial \u2013 Operacions, Producci\u00f3 i Empresa (SIR-OPE) i el Grup de Rob\u00f2tica de Serveis i Rob\u00f2tica Industrial (SIR).<br><br>La UPC treballa principalment en el desenvolupament del nou proc\u00e9s de separaci\u00f3 i la seva validaci\u00f3 en el pilotatge, juntament amb socis industrials fabricants de reactius biol\u00f2gics per ser utilitzats en els processos. El valor del quars en el mercat va en funci\u00f3 de la seva puresa, i aquesta tecnologia hauria de permetre a les empreses l\u2019acc\u00e9s a mercats de m\u00e9s valor afegit.<br><br><h4>Impacte<\/h4><br><br>El projecte QUEEN t\u00e9 un fort impacte econ\u00f2mic, social i ambiental. El projecte t\u00e9 com a objectiu cobrir el 56 % de la demanda de MG-Si de la UE abans de l\u2019any 2032.
