Braun Surgical, ha creat un catalitzador cer\u00e0mic i biocompatible que captura gasos d\u2019efecte hivernacle i els transforma en productes qu\u00edmics \u00fatils de manera m\u00e9s sostenible i amb un cost m\u00e9s baix que les tecnologies actuals.<\/h4><br><br><h4>La tecnologia ha superat la fase pilot a trav\u00e9s de projectes conjunts amb empreses de diferents sectors.<\/h4><br>Project Header<br>no-repeat;left top;;<br>auto<br>20px<br><br><br><p><span>Investigadors del grup de recerca d\u2019Innovaci\u00f3 en Materials i Enginyeria Molecular &#8211; Biomaterials per a Ter\u00e0pies Regeneratives (IMEM-BRT) de la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya (UPC) , en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb l\u2019equip d\u2019R+D de l\u2019empresa B. Braun Surgical, han desenvolupat <\/span>una tecnologia basada en hidroxiapatita polaritzada permanentment (Permanently Polarized Hydroxyapatite)<span>, un material cer\u00e0mic i biocompatible, que actua com a catalitzador. La principal innovaci\u00f3 \u00e9s que permet capturar gasos d\u2019efecte hivernacle, com el di\u00f2xid de carboni (CO\u2082), i transformar-los en productes qu\u00edmics \u00fatils, com etanol o urea, de manera m\u00e9s sostenible i amb un cost m\u00e9s baix que les tecnologies actuals.<\/span><span>El di\u00f2xid de carboni es considera la principal causa de l\u2019escalfament global i, per tant, reduir-ne les emissions \u00e9s tant un repte acad\u00e8mic com una necessitat social. El principal problema, afirma Sans, \u00e9s que \\\u00bbes tracta d\u2019una mol\u00e8cula molt estable i, sense un catalitzador, es necessita molta energia per trencar-la. Aix\u00f2 fa que, en el proc\u00e9s, s\u2019acabi emetent m\u00e9s CO\u2082 del que es redueix\u201d. El repte, doncs, \u00e9s trobar, primer, la manera de trencar aquesta mol\u00e8cula, i, despr\u00e9s, la manera de reordenar-la perqu\u00e8 es generin altres productes d\u2019inter\u00e8s qu\u00edmic o industrial que es puguin reinserir a la societat.<\/span><span>Avui dia ja existeixen catalitzadors que capturen i transformen aquest gas, per\u00f2 necessiten igualment pressions altes i temperatures extremes. A m\u00e9s, estan fets de metalls nobles, com l\u2019or o el plat\u00ed, que tenen un cost econ\u00f2mic elevat, i aix\u00f2 fa que, sovint, aquesta tecnologia no es pugui escalar a la ind\u00fastria. La tecnologia de <\/span><span>Permanently Polarized Hydroxiapatite<\/span><span>, en canvi, es basa en un material abundant a la natura, la hidroxiapatita, present als nostres ossos, que, gr\u00e0cies a la seva capacitat d\u2019absorbir les emissions CO\u2082 i la seva capacitat catal\u00edtica, permet realitzar la reacci\u00f3 qu\u00edmica en condicions suaus: amb la pressi\u00f3 atmosf\u00e8rica i temperatures compreses entre els 9 \u00b0C i els 150\u202f\u00b0C. Aquesta tecnologia \u00e9s vers\u00e0til i es pot aplicar en processos industrials que comportin emissions importants de CO\u2082. Un exemple seria implementar el catalitzador a la sortida de les xemeneies per reduir, d\u2019una banda, les emissions directes a l\u2019atmosfera i, de l\u2019altra, poder recollir productes com l\u2019etanol, per fer-se servir com un biocombustible.<\/span><\/p><br><br><h4>Impacte<\/h4><br><br><p><span>De moment, la tecnologia s\u2019ha provat amb \u00e8xit a l\u2019Escola d\u2019Enginyeria de Barcelona Est (EEBE), al Campus Diagonal-Bes\u00f2s, i ha superat la fase pilot en projectes conjunts amb grans empreses. Un exemple \u00e9s el projecte Nuclis, finan\u00e7at per ACCI\u00d3 i coordinat per l\u2019empresa Aquambiente, Circular Economy Soutions S.L.U (ACES), del grup Veolia, en el marc del qual l\u2019\u00fas del catalitzador en una incineradora a Matar\u00f3 ha perm\u00e8s reduir el 35% del CO\u2082.
