Representatives from the UPC Technology Center actively participated in the DIZ 4.0 Conference – “Artificial Intelligence. Human Perspective”, held on 26th March in Iași, Romania. This event was organised by the Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ) and the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network (EDIH). It brought together over 700 participants, including key stakeholders from across Europe, including Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), technology providers, and public authorities to discuss strategic collaboration in digital innovation.
CIT UPC participated in the "Exploration session of international collaboration between HEIs & EDIHs", supported by the MERIT Project, and was involved in the jury for the "AI in Action" Pitching session.
The CIT UPC delegation included Esther Parra, European Projects & Research Innovation Coordinator, and Laura Peraita, Marketing & Communication Manager of the foundation.
During the HEIs & EDIHs session, Esther Parra presented CIT UPC’s model as a university-based transfer centre that connects research, SMEs, and European funding opportunities — highlighting its role in enabling impactful collaboration between academia and industry. The session focused on advancing cooperation between HEIs and EDIHs at both national and European levels and aimed to foster long-term knowledge exchange and joint project development. CIT UPC shared the stage with other MERIT project partners, including representatives from DIZ, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), Riga Technical University (RTU), Riga Business School (RBS), and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC).
As part of the "AI in Action" Pitching session, Esther Parra also served as a jury member, evaluating innovative AI-driven solutions presented by SMEs.
Through its participation, CIT UPC emphasised its mission in bridging the gap between research and industry through technology transfer and European project collaborations. CIT UPC is committed to connecting research with the real needs of SMEs, fostering innovation, and contributing to the formation of European consortia for sustainable technological development.
