Centre d’innovació i Tecnologia BARCELONATECH

On Friday 6 July, the new space for the Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering (CREB UPC) was opened on the fourth floor of the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEIB), which is the Centre’s new home.

The new space houses three research groups: Biomedical Signals and Systems, Movement Analysis, and Graphic Information. In addition, it contains areas for shared use such as meeting rooms, a classroom, storage rooms and workshops, among others.

The opening day for the new offices and laboratories began with various speeches in the Aula CREB, given by Jordi Berenguer, Vice-Rector for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the UPC; Daniela Tost, director of CREB UPC; Míriam Febrer, the youngest researcher; and Pere Caminal, former director of the Centre and the researcher with the most experience. In addition, Dr. Joan Vidal, head of the Guttmann Institute’s Spinal Cord Unit, gave a talk on rehabilitation technology. Subsequently, researchers presented research results and some very promising new lines of research. The opening ended with refreshments in the central space.
