Great success of the 1st Hackaton on Rare Diseases "RAREHACKS"

Friday July 5th started the 1st edition of the Hackaton on Rare Diseases rarehacks at MOB . This event has been organised by CREB UPC - Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Barcelona Children's Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, @Melanoma Patients Network, World Duchenne Organization (formerly UPPMD), Omada Health and supported by Deister Machine Company Bon preu, S.A., CAFES BOU SA, Frit Ravich, Coffetek Limited.

This 3-day event organized within the project Share4Rare (S4R) is financed by the EU commission and has the goal to create a platform capable of recruiting data for a particular rare disease and contributing this knowledge back to the patient population. Achieving funds from private and public entities for the research on rare diseases is exceptionally difficult. The goal of rarehacks is to push research on minority diseases throughout collaborative efforts.

The teams have been coding for 3 days to create a chatbot in Telegram using Python to solve rare diseases challenges.

Those hackathoners worked in their own solutions to build a smart chat bot capable of providing answers to rare diseases patients’ relatives. They bravely resisted this 3-day design sprint-like event and showed their final results in a free and open session on Sunday 7th at 3.00pm at MOB Makers of Barcelona. The best solutions developed by the teams "Kastellar Marronero" and "Network composite" received both awards generously given by deister software . Thank you for all the organisers, sponsors and hackathoners who made possible this 1st edition of the Hackaton on Rare Diseases rarehacks.
