The aim of AI4HealthyAging is to design and construct algorithms of artificial intelligence (AI) that enable early diagnosis of ageing-related diseases during the monitoring of patients who have suffered a heart attack or stroke. In addition, this AI system will help to make decisions about these patients. The project will analyse other conditions such as sarcopenia, Parkinson’s or hearing loss, among others.
Consortium
Led by Capgemini, the consortium is comprised of a total of 15 representative bodies and entities from the industrial and health sector, including the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) through the IDEAI, the research centre specialised in artificial intelligence of the UPC, the Aragon Institute of Technology, the Cajal Institute (CSIC), the Aragon Health Sciences Institute, the Aragon Health Research Institute, the University of Valencia, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Spanish Red Cross, the Andalusian Foundation for the Research and Management of Knowledge on Otorhinolaryngology (FAIGESCO), Bitbrain, Podoactiva, Technaid, INNTEGRA and Starlab.
Budget and funding
AI4HealthyAging is part of the Missions of Research and Development in Artificial Intelligence 2021 programme of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation. It is part of the Spain Digital 2025 agenda and the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. It will be funded by the European Union through Next Generation funds and has a budget of 12.5 million euros. AI4HealthyAging has a duration of four years (it started in 2021 and will continue until December 2024).
