The Industrial Equipment Design Centre (CDEI UPC) worked on a project for Bultaco Motors to increase certain elements’ resistance to fatigue in new versions of Brinco, the electric bike that is marketed by the renowned motorbike manufacturer.
The project involved analysing the soldering of the chassis and rolling chassis in the electric bike, as well as potential changes in its sections, so that the new design has less strain and a longer fatigue life.
Every year, over four million patients acquire an infection associated with a hospital stay, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the World Health Organisation. The data indicate that the impact of these infections has led to direct or indirect mortality of 137,000 patients and a cost of seven billion euros annually.
The question of energy efficiency in the manufacturing industry has driven the shift to a new paradigm through new efficient, smart systems. Due to increasing concerns about climate change and the transformation to sustainable systems, research trends have arisen from different perspectives to try to resolve these concerns.
