The Centre for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development (CD6 UPC) has developed a method for the colorimetric characterization of coatings whose appearance varies depending on the angle of illumination and observation, as is the case of nacreous and metallic coatings. This is a system of gonio-hyperspectral images that can capture high-resolution spectral images, using different configurations. This new technology is particularly relevant for the automobile sector, as it enables highly precise colorimetric measurement of metal coatings, and notably improves the capacity of existing equipment.
