A digital twin to improve energy efficiency, comfort and use of buildings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Motion Control and Industrial Applications Centre (MCIA UPC) is taking part in the POWERTWIN project, led by Smartech Cluster. The aim is to develop, through digital twins, turnkey solutions that can be scaled up depending on type, which improve the sustainability and energy efficiency of buildings. This will be achieved through the management of smart systems that monitor, control and optimise sustainability and energy management indicators based on the Level(s) and nZEB frameworks. Through digital twin technology, the use of spaces and systems will be improved throughout their life cycle. The technology will increase the accessibility and usability of operation and maintenance processes. The main goal of <strong>POWERTWIN <\/strong>is to improve the behaviour of buildings through the creation of a smart cyber-physical ecosystem of low human intervention (mainly automated), to make them energy efficient, sustainable and suitable in terms of <strong>\u201cwellness\u201d <\/strong>(health and wellbeing of interior conditions), which also guarantees compliance with <strong>European nZEB and Level(s) standards<\/strong>. The model could be adapted to and copied in other buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expected impact:<br>The POWERTIN project will be developed in the GAIA building of the UPC, for which a digital twin will be created that will monitor in real time its most important variables and optimise its use. Thus it will contribute to mitigating the climate emergency and the current energy crisis.<br>The GAIA building is in Terrassa, on the UPC Terrassa Campus.
