The Centre for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development (CD6)<\/a> at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) is taking part in PhotonHub Europe<\/a>. This is a European project to establish a single pan-European hub for innovation in photonics as a one-stop shop solution that brings together the pioneering photonics solutions, facilities, knowledge and experience of 53 European partners.\r
This platform is funded by the European Union and is open to all companies. The aim is to support aspects relating to the development and commercialization of new products focused on various markets:\r

Agriculture and the food industry\r
Climate, mobility and energy\r
Digital infrastructures\r
Health and medical devices\r
Advanced manufacturing\r
Security, space and defence\r
\r
PhotonHub offers support in various formats, depending on business needs:\r
\r
Business coaching\r
Technological support (\u2018test-before-invest\u2019)\r
Search for investors\r
General training in photonics, specialized training in its application by sectors.\r

What type of help will PhotonHub Europe provide?<\/h4>\r
Innovating in a product or process can be an expensive and risky operation, particularly when it takes place through deep-tech technologies such as photonics. PhotonHub offers a fast, effective way to \u201ctest-before-invest\u201d to minimize the associated risks. PhotonHub provides companies with the opportunity to carry out innovation projects by giving them access to the extensive experience, teams and leading technologies in photonics that are available in Europe. The support and innovation of PhotonHub covers the entire value chain, from the concept and prototyping in the initial stage (TRL3-4), to industrialization (TRL5-6) and manufacture (TRL7-8).\r
PhotonHub Europe contributes to reducing the risks associated with innovation projects through its own funding instrument, which covers the tasks and services that the PhotonHub Europe partners carry out for companies.\r

How can companies access PhotonHub?<\/h4>\r
Access to the technological experts and partners available in PhotonHub Europe is organized through innovation projects with relatively short execution periods (6 to 9 months). The proposals are drawn up by the partners of PhotonHub Europe based on the specific needs and information provided by the company. Proposals are presented through the PhotonHub Europe portal and are assessed by a committee that will determine whether the project can be funded or if some minor modification is required for it to be assessed again.\r
In addition, the technological support offered by PhotonHub Europe is complemented by experts in the business and finance area to ensure that the innovation activities are focused on the market. In addition, an extensive offering of online and face-to-face training is available, most of which is free.\r
