The project is designed to establish a new way of analysing the motor system and human musculoskeletal movements, and the transfer of academic research to clinical practice and industry.\r
The aim of HybridNeuro is to create the bases and support for a long-term association of research and innovation in the field of research into hybrid neural and musculoskeletal interfaces in the four countries that form the consortium: Slovenia, which leads the project, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Spain. The hybrid neural motor interfaces in HybridNeuro use brain and muscle signals recorded non-invasively. They can be used for the objective assessment, monitoring and rehabilitation of neuromuscular disorders.\r
The project combines the experience of the University of Maribor (UM) in muscle-motor interfaces (bottom-up approach to neuromuscular research), with the excellence of the Chalmers University of Technology, the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London – better known as Imperial College London – and the UPC in a new research pathway on brain-motor interfaces (bottom-down approach to neuromuscular research) and neurophysiology. \r
HybridNeuro aims to promote the development of excellence in research at the UM in the least developed region of the east of Slovenia through the experience of the other three entities in the consortium, the training of new and experienced researchers, an increase in attractiveness of this university for visiting researchers, an improvement in management capacity, the proposal of projects in the UM, the creation of new collaborations and the strengthening of existing ones between industrial, clinical and research institutions of Slovenia and abroad with the UM and with project partners in Sweden, the United Kingdom and Spain.
