Esta nueva tecnolog\u00eda resulta imprescindible para pa\u00edses en desarrollo que carecen de dispositivos de diagn\u00f3stico m\u00e1s sofisticados, mientras que en los pa\u00edses desarrollados esta herramienta ayuda a reducir costes hospitalarios y tiempos de espera.<\/h4><br\/>Project Header<br\/>no-repeat;left top;;<br\/>auto<br\/><br\/><br\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cit.upc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/LAM-Parkinson.png\" alt=\"LAM Parkinson\"\/><br\/>full<br\/>center<br\/><br\/><br\/>El Temblor Esencial es un tipo de trastorno del movimiento que con frecuencia se diagnostica err\u00f3neamente como enfermedad de Parkinson. El Temblor Esencial no es degenerativo y presenta un temblor r\u00edtmico en movimiento que generalmente se acent\u00faa para posiciones en postura. Por otro lado, el Parkinson tiene un car\u00e1cter neurodegenerativo y afecta al movimiento principalmente en reposo. El tratamiento con dopamina que se suministra a pacientes de Parkinson es sumamente agresivo y perjudicial si es suministrado a pacientes carentes de esta enfermedad, por ejemplo, pacientes con Temblor Esencial. Adem\u00e1s de esta importante contraindicaci\u00f3n a nivel farmacol\u00f3gico, hay que tener en cuenta que la prueba que determina si el paciente padece o no Parkinson, llamada SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography), tiene un coste muy elevado y suele tener largas listas de espera. Esta prueba trata de una exploraci\u00f3n que supone la administraci\u00f3n de un radiof\u00e1rmaco (una fuente de radiaci\u00f3n gamma) al paciente para poder recoger su distribuci\u00f3n en regiones cerebrales y determinar la neurodegeneraci\u00f3n.&#13;<br\/>La aplicaci\u00f3n m\u00f3vil desarrollada se basa en la realizaci\u00f3n de un test biomec\u00e1nico en varias posiciones (relajaci\u00f3n y postura) para registrar y analizar el temblor de manos con los sensores inerciales, ya sean del tel\u00e9fono m\u00f3vil o dispositivos inal\u00e1mbricos espec\u00edficos. La aceleraci\u00f3n lineal y\/o la velocidad angular de los movimientos se procesan para disponer caracter\u00edsticas biom\u00e9tricas de los pacientes en el dominio del tiempo y la frecuencia. Seguidamente se utilizan algoritmos basados en redes neuronales, donde se comparan los valores que resultan con los valores obtenidos en casos ya diagnosticados, para finalmente determinar si el paciente tiene P\u00e1rkinson o Temblor Esencial. Actualmente la base de datos de pacientes se est\u00e1 ampliando gracias a la colaboraci\u00f3n de varios hospitales y asociaciones con el objetivo de mejorar la fiabilidad de esta herramienta para el diagn\u00f3stico diferencial. As\u00ed, el diagn\u00f3stico que indica la aplicaci\u00f3n permitir\u00e1 al m\u00e9dico disponer de informaci\u00f3n adicional de aquellos pacientes complejos o en etapas tempranas en las que un tratamiento acertado es fundamental para mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente.&#13;<br\/>&#13;<br\/>Esta nueva tecnolog\u00eda resulta accesible para pa\u00edses en desarrollo que carecen de dispositivos de diagn\u00f3stico m\u00e1s sofisticados.&#13;<br\/>El proyecto se est\u00e1 desarrollando en colaboraci\u00f3n con los doctores Josep Valls y Eduard Tolosa, de la unidad de neurolog\u00eda del Hospital CLINIC, la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Occidente de Colombia, Universidad de Chile y la Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule de Alemania.
