For the third consecutive year, the Institute of Textile Research and Industrial Cooperation of \u00a0Terrassa (INTEXTER)<\/a> of the UPC has organised the \u201cTextile Industry and Sustainability\u201d conference. This year, the event was held on 20 November in online format. The talks focused on responding to the technological, economic and social challenges resulting from imminent European regulations on waste management.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Participants in the conference included Francesc Torres, Rector of the UPC; Jordi Ballart, Mayor of Terrassa; Matilde Vilarroya, Director General of Industry in the Catalan government; and Enric Carrera, Director of INTEXTER of the UPC. The third \u201cTextile Industry and Sustainability\u201d conference was concluded by Jos\u00e9 Maria Mestres, President of the Texfor Association, and by Xavier Roca Ramon, Director of the Terrassa School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering (ESEIAAT), the only training centre for textile engineers in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference, which has an established place in the business and professional agenda of the textile sector, generated great expectations. It brought together over 300 technicians, professionals and researchers and representatives of the best-known companies in a sector that has addressed the challenge of textile waste management, which is soon to be regulated by the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INTEXTER of the UPC designed a programme focused on companies that have had successful experiences in sustainable management of their processes, such as those of Textil Santanderina, Hilaturas Arnau, or SKFK. During the conference, expert companies in textile waste management also described their experiences, including ECOTEXTIL or C\u00e1ritas\u2019s Moda re- project. The research team of INTEXTER of the UPC presented the latest results of research and development projects on textile sustainability that they have developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third \u201cTextile Industry and Sustainability\u201d conference was part of the programme of events to celebrate the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the UPC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
