Once again, the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya \u00b7 BarcelonaTech (UPC), through the CIT UPC, will be present at the Smart City Expo World Congress (#SCEWC22), which will be held at the Gran Via Fira de Barcelona venue between 15 and 17 November. During the congress, technological capabilities and solutions for smart cities will be presented that are being worked on by the University<\/strong>

As a distinguishing feature, in this edition the UPC space, which is on stand 55, street B, Floor 0, Hall 2, will have a 12 m\u00b2 model of Barcelona city<\/strong>. The model has been provided by the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) and was created in the model workshop of the Vall\u00e8s School of Architecture (ETSAV). Onto this model will be projected the results of one of the most notable projects in the field of resilient urban design: the X-ClimPlan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPC Technology at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the technological capabilities and solutions that the University is working on in the field of smart cities<\/a><\/strong> will be presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects that will be exhibited are aimed at government bodies. The objective is to present solutions that can be adopted or be an inspiration for government policies on the cities of the future and citizenship. They are designed to improve various aspects of the sustainability of cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of SCEWC22, on Wednesday 16 November from 10 am to 12 pm<\/strong>, on the UPC stand, a session will be held in which UPC researchers present projects selected for this trade fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session is called \u201cPeople-centred solutions to make cities more liveable and resilient\u201d<\/strong>, as all the projects address this subject area from different perspectives. The UPC can offer solutions in this area based on the technology that it develops, for example, sustainable urban development that helps to mitigate climate change, solutions to promote sustainable tourism, or how AI can help to improve the services that the government offers citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session is open to all visitors of the congress <\/strong>and <\/strong>will be held at the UPC stand in the Gran Via Fira de Barcelona exhibition centre: Hall 2, Floor 0, Street B, Stand 55<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROGRAMME | 16 NOV 2022 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.00 – 10.15 h. X-ClimPlan<\/strong><\/a>: urban heat islands and heat waves. How can we adapt our cities to climate change?<\/strong>

10.15 – 10.30 h. REV-TER: Revive the rooftops.<\/strong>
Pere Joan Ravetllat, from the Architectural Rehabilitation and Restoration (REARQ) group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.30 – 10.45 h. SAVASCO<\/strong><\/a>. A building made of corn and sunflower. Biology-based solutions for decarbonisation of the construction sector.<\/strong>

10.45 – 11.00 h. Diskover<\/a>. Towards a new tourism model: personalised, \u201cslow\u201d and of quality.<\/strong>

11.30 – 11.45 h. A tool to assess urban infrastructure and the effects of mobility on heat islands.<\/strong>
