CIT UPC participated in the 2023 edition of meetechSpain, organised by the Spanish Federation of Technology Centres (Fedit) and held on 18 and 19 May in Madrid. The event was attended by over 500 professionals from the Spanish innovation and industrial ecosystem. The capabilities of Spanish technology centres were presented, and challenges and opportunities in research, development and innovation were discussed. In addition, collaboration was promoted between agents of the ecosystem.\u00a0\r
The centres, distributed on 28 stands, presented around 200 research development and innovation projects in the \u201cTechnological Showroom\u201d of meetechSpain covering various sectors, such as health, agrifood, aeronautics, industry and technologies such as additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), IoT sensors or blockchain.\u00a0\r
During the event, the role of technology centres as catalysts of knowledge transfer and cooperation was discussed. The round tables addressed the challenges and opportunities of the research, development and innovation ecosystem: from the results of the Cervera Technology Transfer Programme to the impact of centres\u2019 activities, their role in industrialisation and economic transformation, the research, development and innovation proposals that increase the country\u2019s competitiveness, and the keys for communicating on innovation. In addition, the promotion of business innovation, an understanding of the economic potential of research, development and innovation and the change in employment profiles are some of the challenges that the sector faces.

Innovative solutions of the UPC and participation in Speaker Corner in meetechSpain<\/h4>\r
As part of the event, the UPC Technology Centre (CIT UPC) demonstrated the research capability and technological innovation potential of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) in the areas of materials, health, agrotech, advanced production, energy and the environment, chemistry, logistics and mobility, digital transformation, urban development and sustainability and infrastructure.\u00a0\r
Some of the projects that were presented were:\r
\r
X-ClimPlan: urban heat islands and heat waves. How to adapt our cities to climate change?<\/a> A methodological tool to significantly improve the resilience of cities to extreme climate change episodes.\r
Multifunctional nanocomposite hydrogels for advanced skincare<\/a>. A new method for producing hydrogels for the treatment of chronic wounds.\r
LoRaMesher: Advanced IoT services for LoRa Mesh networks<\/a>. An open-source library that enables multi-hop and peer-to-peer data routing between IoT devices in a LoRa communication mesh network.\r

On 18 May, CIT UPC took part in the Speaker Corner of meetechSpain with the talk \u2018Twenty-first century cities and innovation\u2019, given by Silvia Chellini in the area of business development.
