Over 20 companies and a hundred research centers have taken part in the event.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIT UPC<\/strong> has participated in the third Open Innovation Forum<\/strong>, a program that brings together companies that pose technological challenges and research groups that offer solutions for them. The program finished out 2020 with noteworthy figures. In total, 23 companies <\/strong>and 101 problem-solvers <\/strong>(including research centers -both academic and independent- and technology centers) participated in the program, holding 137 meetings <\/strong>to attempt to resolve the 52 innovation challenges <\/strong>the companies posed. Now, over the coming months, the partners will draw up collaboration agreements to formalize the new innovation projects.    <\/p>\n\n\n

The challenges fall under six areas of knowledge: life sciences and healthcare, food, chemistry, energy and resources, industrial systems and mobility. As this year has been quite atypical due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meetings held during the events on 15 July and 3 December were all virtual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Open Innovation Forum provides a platform to connect companies looking to innovate in different areas of their activity with research centers that can use their research to drive innovation in these companies. In short, it is about accelerating the transfer<\/strong> of knowledge and technology to society by connecting the various stakeholders in the innovation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenges in the biomedical arena<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The companies’ challenges this year involve immunity<\/strong>, dermatological conditions<\/strong>, pain management<\/strong>, innovation in drug delivery<\/strong> and food supplements<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the companies from the life sciences and healthcare sector that have participated include pharmaceutical laboratories like\u00a0Uriach Consumer Healthcare<\/a>,\u00a0Reig Jofre<\/a>,\u00a0ERN<\/a>,\u00a0Gebro Pharma<\/a>\u00a0and businesses like\u00a0Brudi Technology. The problem-solvers that offered up their services to find solutions to the companies’ innovation needs included research groups from top universities in Catalonia (in addition to the UPC<\/a>, UB<\/a>,\u00a0UAB<\/a>,\u00a0UPF<\/a>,\u00a0URV<\/a>,\u00a0UdG<\/a>,\u00a0UdL<\/strong>) and other prestigious organizations like the\u00a0Institute for Research in Biomedicine<\/a>,\u00a0Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute<\/a>,\u00a0VHIR,\u00a0LEITAT<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0EURECAT<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Open Innovation <\/strong>Forum is organized by Biocat<\/a>, Fundaci\u00f3 Bosch i Gimpera<\/a>, UPF Ventures, Parc de recerca de la UAB and CIT UPC<\/a>, with the collaboration of ACCI\u00d3<\/a>, Institut de Ci\u00e8ncia de Materials de Barcelona<\/a> (ICMAB-CSIC), Institut de Recerca Biom\u00e8dica de Barcelona<\/a> (IRB), Universitat de Girona<\/a> (UdG), Universitat Rovira i Virgili<\/a> (URV), Vall Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), Xarxa d’R+D+I Energy for Society<\/a> (XRE4S), Xarxa de Refer\u00e8ncia en Tecnologies dels Aliments (XaRTA) and Xarxa de Refer\u00e8ncia en Biotecnologia (XRB).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
