Las materias recuperadas se destinar\u00e1n a usos industriales y contribuir\u00e1n a reducir la dependencia comercial de Europa.<\/h4><br>Project Header<br>no-repeat;left top;;<br>auto<br>20px<br><br><br><p>La desalinizaci\u00f3n del agua marina es un m\u00e9todo cada vez m\u00e1s utilizado para obtener agua para usos industriales, pero este proceso genera salmueras, efluentes con alta concentraci\u00f3n de sales, que tradicionalmente se consideran un residuo. El proyecto <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/magna-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">MagNa<\/a> (con nombre en ingl\u00e9s, Valorising Brine into a Sustainable Resource through Mg(OH)2 and NaCl recovery), dar\u00e1 valor a las salmueras, recuperando hidr\u00f3xido de magnesio y cloruro de sodio \u2013sal\u2013 de gran pureza gracias a una tecnolog\u00eda innovadora.El hidr\u00f3xido de magnesio y el cloruro de sodio son materias primas valiosas con aplicaciones en diferentes industrias como la qu\u00edmica o la farmac\u00e9utica, y actualmente se importan en un gran porcentaje desde pa\u00edses externos a la Uni\u00f3n Europea (UE). En este contexto, el proyecto MagNa pretende reducir esta dependencia y, al mismo tiempo, minimizar el impacto medioambiental de la desalinizaci\u00f3n gracias a un enfoque de econom\u00eda circular.<\/p><br><br><p>En el marco del proyecto, se est\u00e1 desarrollando un innovador tren de tratamiento de salmueras a escala industrial en las instalaciones de Aitasa (Aig\u00fces Industrials de Tarragona Societat An\u00f2nima) para recuperar magnesio y sodio de gran pureza. Este tren, que tendr\u00e1 dos unidades diferenciadas, tratar\u00e1 un caudal aproximado de 6,5 metros c\u00fabicos\/hora de agua de mar.<\/p><br><br><p>La contribuci\u00f3n del equipo de la UPC, a trav\u00e9s del grupo <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/futur.upc.edu\/R2EM\" target=\"_blank\">Resources Recovery and Environmental Management (R2EM)<\/a> del <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/multiscale.upc.edu\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\">Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n en Ciencia e Ingenier\u00eda Multiescala de Barcelona (CCEM)<\/a>, se centra en la recuperaci\u00f3n de magnesio de las salmueras de desalaci\u00f3n para producir Mg(OH)\u2082(s) mediante cristalizaci\u00f3n reactiva. El producto obtenido presenta la calidad necesaria para su comercializaci\u00f3n en aplicaciones farmac\u00e9uticas, en la formulaci\u00f3n de fertilizantes y como retardante de llama.El proceso se basa en un enfoque circular, en el que los reactivos necesarios para la producci\u00f3n de Mg(OH)\u2082(s) se generan in situ a partir de la sal resultante y mediante tecnolog\u00edas electroqu\u00edmicas de membranas.MagNa ayudar\u00e1 a resolver dos grandes retos para Europa: la vulnerabilidad ante la falta de producci\u00f3n local de materias primas clave para el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico, y la gesti\u00f3n de la creciente presencia de salmueras, especialmente en Espa\u00f1a, que es uno de los cinco pa\u00edses del mundo donde m\u00e1s se desaliniza el agua debido a su contexto de estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico. Adem\u00e1s, la tecnolog\u00eda que se crear\u00e1 podr\u00e1 replicarse en otras plantas desalinizadoras, maximizando su impacto a medio plazo.<\/p><br><br><h4>Consorcio, presupuesto y financiaci\u00f3n<\/h4><br><br><p>El proyecto est\u00e1 liderado por Cetaqua-Centre Tecnol\u00f2gic de l\\&#8217;Aigua y, adem\u00e1s de la UPC, cuenta con la participaci\u00f3n de Aitasa-Aig\u00fces Industrials de Tarragona y Seureca Veolia. MagNa est\u00e1 cofinanciado por la convocatoria <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/eitrawmaterials.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">EIT RawMaterials<\/a> de la UE (en el marco del programa Horizon Europe 2021-2027).
