SECTOR WEBINAR: “Innovation and technology, keys to the future of the yachting industry”

CIT UPC and the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic have organised for 16 December the sector webinar “Innovation and technology: keys to the future of the yachting industry”. This is a webinar aimed at agents in the sector who are responsible for the technology, production, quality and business of manufacturing and service companies.

In the webinar, the current and future state of the sector will be discussed, and the latest technology trends will be presented, with applications in the area of the circular economy, mobility, electrification and renewable energies and advanced production technologies.

The welcome speech will be given by Toni Tió, the executive president of Barcelona Clúster Nàutic. He will be followed by Manuel José Lis, PhD holder in Industrial Engineering from the Research Group in Polymer Materials and Textile Chemistry (POLQUITEX) at the UPC, who will talk about the use of recyclable, environmentally friendly materials, treatments for polymer surfaces, and cleaning procedures and treatments that can be used on boats (from cruise ships to chartered boats) to ensure the best conditions regarding Covid-19 and other viruses. Daniel Montesinos, direct of the CITCEA UPC research group, will talk about the electrification opportunities that boats offer, as well as the way to get the best performance out of a boat battery.

The event will be held in online format via the Zoom platform.
