Once again, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), through CIT UPC, will be at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), which will take place in Barcelona at the Fira de Barcelona, Recinte Gran Via, between 16 and 18 November.
UPC will have a stand (F112, Pavilion 2, Level 0) where the latest projects developed by the university will be presented, as well as the technological capacities and solutions in enabling technologies, energy and the environment, the urban environment, life and inclusion, economy, infrastructure and buildings, security and protection.
On 17 November we will be holding the presentation of several projects which the UPC is involved in. All of those who will be visiting the Expo are welcome to the session:
UPC’s innovative projects to improve citizen’s lives
In a constantly changing environment, technology drives the advances made to improve people’s lives. In this context, the UPC presents some projects in areas as wide-ranging as health and care for our elderly, Industry 4.0, mobility and the sustainability of cities, from the perspectives of the circular economy or advanced materials.

12.45 – 13.00 h Caldas Transversal Bio-Road. A sustainable road through the Colombian Andes, Xavier Álvarez del Castillo (CATMech UPC).
13.00 – 13.15 h Development of a multi-sensor gas-based system for comfort and indoor activity monitoring, Jordi Fonollosa (CREB UPC).
13.15 – 13.30 h Paperchain Project. New Market Niches for the Pulp and Paper Industry Waste based on circular economy approaches, Adriana Martínez Reguero (MATCAR UPC).

CARNET, an initiative coordinated by CIT UPC, will also participate in the parallel event at the Smart City Congress, Tomorrow Mobility. In a stand with SEAT, CARNET will present the Autonomous Driving Challenge, a competition in which students from various Spanish universities develop software to move the model cars that are provided along a route autonomously, by means of their sensors.
