The UPC Technology Center, CIT UPC, has been present, as an associate member of the Spanish Federation of Technology Centres (Fedit), at the presentation of the study “Value and economic impact of Fedit Technology Centres”, within the framework of the commemorative event marking the Federation’s 30th Anniversary, which took place on 29 April in Madrid.
On 29 April, the study “Value and economic impact of Fedit Technology Centres”, prepared by the Valencian Institute of Economic Research, was presented at a press conference prior to the institutional event commemorating Fedit’s 30th anniversary. The report quantified the aggregate impact of the Technology Centres on the Spanish economy, highlighting their contribution to innovation, business competitiveness and employment.
The presentation of the study and the commemorative event for Fedit’s 30th anniversary has been held at the Institute of Engineering of Spain (Madrid), bringing together institutional and business representatives, as well as stakeholders from the R&D&I field, to highlight three decades of driving applied innovation in Spain.

- Researchers from the Architecture, Energy and Environment research group (AiEM) and the Design and Analysis of Architectural Structures research group of the Department of Architectural Technology (DiCEA), which are part of the Centre for Research and Services for the Local Administration (CRAL) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), have developed an innovative system for the structural strengthening of ceramic floor slabs using stress-activated timber, designed to intervene in occupied buildings in a fast, sustainable and replicable manner.

This integration will be achieved through digital twins and data-based models that are continuously updated thanks to distributed monitoring and control tools.
- The Materials Interfaces and Colloid Engineering group (INTERCOLL) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), in collaboration with the Life Cycle Thinking group at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), are taking part in the BIOCHOLESTEROID project to develop new bio-based smart materials with optical response for advanced applications.
