The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC),through the UPC Technology Center (CIT UPC), took part for the first time in Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the world-renowned annual tech show for the audiovisual sector, that was held from 3 to 6 February at Fira de Barcelona (Gran Via). Over the four days of the event, the University’s stand—located in the Catalonia Pavilion (CS100, booth 8) from ACCIÓ (Government of Catalonia)— has been visited by many companies, public authorities, students, professionals and researchers, in a record-breaking edition of the event.

The UPC stand showcased a selection of innovative projects and technological capabilities applied to the audiovisual sector: immersive and interactive experiences, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence applied to content production and space creation, visual computing, and human–machine interaction. Demonstrations of some of the latest innovations were also presented, including those applying artificial intelligence, VR/AR and XR technologies, as well as solutions aimed at education, culture and creativity.

During ISE 2026, UPC projects showcased included:

  • CLIPE: Creating realistic and interactive virtual characters for VR/AR environments.
  • Els Ulls de la Història: An immersive perspective on Catalan cultural heritage.
  • Ciutat i Joc: A framework on game-based learning and storytelling to foster civic competences.
  • XR4ED: A digital infrastructure for applications oriented towards learning, training and education with Extended Reality (XR).
  • AI applied to safety in indoor climbing.
  • AI and Music Festival (S+T+ARTS): Musical creativity with AI.
  • uPlayer: Enhancing the video playback experience.
  • DoblAI: AI for easy and fast dubbing of multimedia content.
  • UPCxels: An open, multisectoral data space based on artificial intelligence.
  • MERIT: A new master’s programme and an international educational ecosystem aimed at bridging Europe’s digital skills gap.

UPC’s participation at ISE 2026 also served to promote Connèxia UPC, the University’s new strategic partnership programme aimed at a limited number of companies seeking a close and holistic collaboration with UPC to drive innovation, competitiveness and growth. Fractus, Mecalux, Schneider Electric and Cetaqua are already members of Connèxia UPC programme.

UPC’s presence in this show was further strengthened by the participation of several spin-offs: Ugiat Technologies, Ikusa Cybersecurity, BEAIMAGINE S.L., Ludium Lab and Virmedex.
