CDTI announces the opening of the INNTERCONECTA STEP 2026 call, with €138 million in grant

In a press release, CDTI Innovación has advanced that the INNTERCONECTA STEP 2026 call will open next October with an estimated budget of €138 million in grants, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund —ERDF—. The application period will close in November, and a resolution is scheduled for the first half of 2027.

New ACCIÓ grants for business innovation 2026

The 2026 call for Business Innovation Grants (R&D&I) includes three funding lines adapted to each stage of innovation: the initial validation of a technology (technological exploration grants), its application in projects close to market (grants for technological innovation), and the development of new products, processes or services involving high technological risk (grants for R&D projects).

Microsoft has joined Connèxia UPC with a project to optimise AI applications and big data management

Microsoft has joined Connèxia UPC, a programme designed to strengthen long-term university–business relation and tailored to the companies' needs. Under this new collaboration framework with the UPC, Microsoft has launched a project with inLab FIB to research advanced techniques aimed at improving the performance and speed of graph databases, which are key to managing large information networks. This technology is fundamental to fields as diverse as social platforms, financial fraud detection and the systems powering many artificial intelligence applications.

CIT UPC takes part in the 2nd General Assembly of DISCOVER in Lisbon

As a member of the DISCOVER consortium, the UPC Technology Center (CIT UPC) participated in the 2nd General Assembly meeting of the EU-funded DISCOVER project, held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 7 and 8 July 2026. The meeting, hosted by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), brought together representatives from all 14 partner organisations to review the progress achieved over the past year, discuss ongoing technical developments and coordinate the next steps towards transforming the deconstruction and construction industry through innovative digital technologies.

The UPC presents a leading scientific infrastructure in Spain for testing 6G technologies under real conditions

On 8 April, UPC unveiled 6G LabNet UPC, an autonomous experimental network designed to test and validate next-generation mobile communications technologies and services in real-world environments. Serving research, teaching, public administration and industry, the infrastructure is a state-of-the-art scientific facility in Europe and will play a key role in accelerating innovation in AI-enabled 6G technology.

CIT UPC at the DIZ 4.0 Conference 2026: Strengthening HEIs and EDIHs Collaboration

Representatives from the UPC Technology Center actively participated in the DIZ 4.0 Conference – “Artificial Intelligence. Human Perspective”, held on 26th March in Iași, Romania. This event was organised by the Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ) and the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network (EDIH). The conference brought together key stakeholders from across Europe, including Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), technology providers, and public authorities to discuss strategic collaboration in digital innovation.
