- The research group Polyfunctional Polymeric Materials (POLY2) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) will work on the project CELICOIDS - Nanohelicoid metamaterials templated by cellulose nanocrystals with end-tethered polymers. As part of this project, it will develop new metamaterials −materials designed to have a property that is not found in nature – that can increase the spectroscopic sensitivity to distinguish molecular chirality.
- The greatest losses in the viticulture sector come from pathologies caused by fungi. Botrytis cinerea has the greatest economic impact, as it attacks all the green […]
- Climate change is dramatically affecting coastal zones. Storms are altering beaches and urban installations on the coastline, producing serious damage to marine ecosystems caused by pollution.
- The use of fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) is a significant advance for the construction industry, in the industrial sector and in underground or prefabricated construction. In most […]
- Every year, over four million patients acquire an infection associated with a hospital stay, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the World Health Organisation. The data indicate that the impact of these infections has led to direct or indirect mortality of 137,000 patients and a cost of seven billion euros annually.
- The research groups Center for Structural Integrity, Micromechanics and Reliability of Materials (CIEFMA), Eco-Friendly Plastics and Composites (e-PLASCOM) and Innovation in Materials and Molecular Engineering (IMEM) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) – specialists in the structure and properties of steels and metal alloys in general, the properties and transformation of plastics, and protection against corrosion, respectively – collaborate with the company URD (Urban Refuse Development) in the project Automatic Waste Collection (AWC).
- The Construction Engineering (EC) Research Group of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is participating in the NEUROCRETE project.
- The AVINT project, in which CIEFMA UPC has participated, has the objective of developing and implementing an application for predicting the roughness and surface finishing of machined parts for optimal surface integrity.
- Researchers in the Analysis and Technology of Structures and Materials (ATEM), the Geomatic Engineering (EGEO) and Construction Engineering (EC) groups, led by Rolando Chacón from the UPC Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, are taking part in ASHVIN. The aim of this project is to provide a digital platform that will be completely ready to set up digital twins. It will be interoperable with a wide range of designs and engineering applications in the construction sector
- The research group e-PLASCOM is participating in the project RevalPET'UP, whose aim is to develop innovative, high-added value materials with a long useful life based on recycled opaque PET.
