- The UPC’s Centre for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development (CD6) in Terrassa, alongside IDOM Engineering, has finalised the design and construction of the optical system that will calibrate the Extremely Large Telescope’s (ELT) main mirror, with a 39-metre diameter. The ELT will be the world’s largest ground-based optical and near-infrared telescope. It is currently under construction at an altitude of over 3,000 metres on Cerro Armazones in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
- As part of the USEFUL project, the Centre for Sensor, Instrumentation and Systems Development (CD6) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) has equipped a low-emission vehicle that will drive through the streets of Terrassa with optical sensors integrated into a complex system for data computing, visualisation, and storage. This car will collect and store thousands of anonymous driving data points, which will be used to develop more accurate algorithms for autonomous driving.
- The UPC coordinates the BCNMob project, focused on the use of smart glasses with 5G technology and extended reality to increase the autonomy of visually impaired people. Biel Glasses and the Punt de Vista Foundation are also participating in the project.
- The Centre for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development (CD6) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) is participating in the development of a smart assistant device that, by combining building information modelling (BIM) with augmented reality and virtual reality technologies, provides a comprehensive tool at each stage of the construction life cycle.
- CD6 researchers at the UPC participate in a project to design and construct a proof of concept of a system that has laser technology and sensors to detect and map the underwater environment.
- An international consortium of universities, hospitals and companies, led by the Centre for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development (CD6) at the UPC, is developing new technologies based on light and artificial intelligence to improve the diagnosis of various diseases.
